Sample of Argumentative Essay

Should parents pay if their children end up in trouble with the law?

Many crimes and social problems are caused by children. Despite the damage these teenage criminals cause, parents are not held responsible in most countries. This essay will discuss whether parents should be forced to pay for their children’s crimes.

There are many reasons why parents should not be responsible for crimes committed by teenage children. First of all, teenagers today are independent. Most of them often move out of the parent’s house at 18 years of age or even younger. The teenagers are expected to learn to take care of themselves and make their own decisions, and not stay like small children attached to their parents.

Despite that, parents nowadays are working. These parents cannot watch their adolescent children all the time. Even children from good families can sometimes commit crimes. Therefore, parents should not be responsible if they have worked hard to raise their children properly.

However, because of the many problems young troublemakers cause, I feel we should make parents responsible if their children end up in trouble with the law. Most juvenile crimes are committed by adolescents whose parents do not care or make any effort to control their children. If parents had to pay fines, they might make more effort.

Besides that, even though the children may seem mature, they are not really able to make good decisions. Parents should be responsible for raising and teaching their children until they are fully grown. Furthermore, if children know that their parents will have to pay, they will think carefully before doing getting into trouble.

To sum up, there are good reasons both for and against making parents pay for acts committed by their children. However, I strongly feel that if we want to reduce the number of such crimes, we need to make parents take more responsibility.

You Can Help Saving Our Mother Earth

It has concerned many people from different walks of life regarding the global warming issue. You might say that you can't do anything about that. However, you can do many things to help our 'home'. The least you can do is to recycle and take care of the environment.

You can reuse things like your lotion and shower cream bottles, use both sides of the papers and don’t buy instant coffee because they are sold in individual packets. I drink too much coffee. My trash can will be filled with empty packets of instant coffee by 5pm. Therefore, I only drink can coffees (I believe you're aware of that as I always drink one before the class starts).

I can keep the cans and all the bottles of my mineral and drinking waters. I don't simply throw them in the dustbin, but I send them to the recycling centre. Some of the recycling centres even pay you if you send your cans and bottles to them. I bet you can get extra pocket money if you carry this responsibility.

I use Body Shop products, which are not tested on animals. Even my toiletries and shopping bags are biodegradable. I believe that by using all of these products, at least I contribute something to lessen the damage that we 'unconciously' (or should I say we 'purposely) do to the animals and our environment.

Many of us set dry leaves on fire. We don't want to waste our money, time and energy bury the leaves or do something with them so they can decompose naturally. I cringe at the sight of people littering out of the car windows or even they ride their bike. It pisses me off but those are simply things that they are used to.

I will keep my food wrappers, even my can drinks in my bags first before I throw them. I segregate all the unwanted things so I know which one to be disposed and to be recycled. I really hope you can also start with this habit.

It breaks my heart when I see the image of people killing the sea lions, tigers, leopards and elephants heartlessly without mercy. It is just so sad. That is why change is crucial. We need to change the way we live and think about the environment.

The Artic is melting as you are reading this. Recycle and think of the environment. It is the only way to go. I hope you can do your part of the job to save our lovely mother earth. Please remember that each and every little thing that we do (good or bad) will add up, so start reuse things, and don't buy any products that are animal tested.

Why the Monday morning blues?

Someone had asked me about this phrase yesterday. Why the Monday morning blues?

Here is the answer...
For everyone who works the typical Monday through Friday schedule, Monday is always the worst, and Monday morning is the worst part of Monday. Why? It is because these people have to drag themselves up from their bed and they find it hard, especially if they have had a fantastic Sunday night partying or just came back from a short trip over the weekends. Thus, these are the reasons why they dread it, they fear it, and some people hate their Monday morning.

Do You Know?

Why do people say god bless you when you sneeze?

In medieval times they believed that when someone sneezed, the body was expelling demons. By saying “god bless you”, they were hoping to guard against the evil spirits entering the body again.
